Vault and Rib Mural Details by Albertus Pictor in Floda Church

2470

Created circa 1480–1500 CE. Period: Late Middle Ages / Late Gothic Period (circa 15th-century Northern Renaissance transition).

This image captures an architectural junction where late Gothic brick rib vaults meet the main ceiling surface, decorated with sprawling acanthus leaf tendrils and geometric framing borders. It is crafted from lime plaster ground applied over rough medieval brick masonry, painted with natural earth and mineral pigments (including copper-derived greens, carbon blacks, and red/yellow ochres) bound in a lime-milk medium, executed using true fresco and fresco-secco lime-painting techniques.
