Town Hall of Kiskunfélegyháza: Zsolnay Ceramic Gable and Floral Frieze
2514
Designed and constructed between 1909–1911 during the Hungarian Art Nouveau (Magyar Szecesszió) movement, under the architectural direction of István Magyar and József Vas.
Structurally, the glazed ceramic panels weatherproof the upper gable masonry while concealing structural joints. Symbolically, the exuberant display of traditional Hungarian folk motifs and heraldry expresses civic pride, autonomy, and the distinct national Magyar variant of Art Nouveau architecture promoted at the turn of the 20th century.
