Thonet House Budapest: Art Nouveau Ceramic Facade and Floral Relief Panels
2527
Designed and constructed between 1888–1890 (with subsequent ceramic decorations from the 1900s Art Nouveau renovation), associated with architects Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos.
Structurally, the majolica-clad pilasters and ceramic panels function as weatherproof cladding over the masonry wall surface. Symbolically, the dense botanical relief panels and folk-art friezes assert a distinct Hungarian national character within the heart of Budapest's most prestigious commercial boulevard.
