Date: Created between 945 - 712 BC. Period: Third Intermediate Period of Egypt (specifically around the 22nd to 25th Dynasties, when Djedmontuiufankh, a priest of Amun, lived and died).

Theological Guide and Protection: Served as a protective vessel and a magical guide for the deceased priest through the perilous journey of the afterlife, drawing from the spells of the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Ersatz Body and Resurrection: Acted as an eternal architectural and physical home for the soul so that the deceased could live on, housing the mummy while magically transforming the priest into the resurrected god Osiris.
