The Interlaced Stucco Arcade of the Palacio de La Aljafería (11th Century)
2627
Built during the second half of the 11th century (Taifa Period), specifically under the patronage of Al-Muqtadir, ruler of the Taifa of Zaragoza, approximately between 1065 and 1081 AD.
Architecturally, it serves as an open-air decorative gallery surrounding the palatial courtyard, designed to provide cool shaded transition spaces, showcase the sophisticated mathematical aesthetics of Islamic palatial design, and project the political and cultural prestige of the Banu Hud dynasty.
