Templerhaus (Hildesheim): Oriel Window Entablature and Heraldic Frieze Detail

2535

Created in 1591 during the Northern Renaissance / Late Mannerist period.

Architecturally, this structural zone separates window tiers while distributing upper loads and framing the facade's compositional axes. Symbolically, the display of family coats of arms, apotropaic grotesque masks, and geometric strapwork served as a public proclamation of the owner's noble or patrician alliances, ancestral lineage, and civic status.
