Templerhaus (Hildesheim): Oriel Window Central Bay with Narrative Relief Panels and Heraldic Friezes
2534
Created in 1591 during the Northern Renaissance / Late Mannerist period.
Architecturally, this tier serves as the primary visual and structural band of the bay window, organizing the fenestration into a coherent grid. Symbolically, the combination of moralizing narrative scenes (such as parable illustrations), family and civic coats of arms, and apotropaic masks served to project the owner's Christian virtue, wealth, familial lineage, and humanist education outward to the public square.
