Sculpted Portal and Twisted Columns of the Nativity Façade (Sagrada Família)

2450

Designed and sculpted primarily between 1894 and 1930 (under the direct supervision and design of Antoni Gaudí). Period: Modernisme / Catalan Art Nouveau and Early 20th-Century Organic Architecture (c. 1883–1926 CE).

This image captures an architectural fragment of the monumental portal porch featuring a central helical (twisted) multi-drum column, flanked by high-relief figural groups (such as the Massacre of the Innocents and the Adoration of the Magi) and dense naturalistic flora. It is crafted from regional Montjuïc sandstone and reinforced cast stone, executed through a combination of traditional hand-chiseled masonry, complex geometric stone-cutting stereotomy, and hyper-realistic organic sculptural carving.
