Parade Armor and Tack Made for King Erik XIV of Sweden by Eliseus Libaerts
2682
Crafted during the high Northern Renaissance, specifically dated to around 1562 AD (with the creator, Flemish goldsmith Eliseus Libaerts, active between 1557 and 1569).
Commissioned exclusively as a supreme diplomatic and dynastic prestige panoply. It was designed to visually project absolute majesty and courtly refinement when King Erik XIV of Sweden sought the hand of Queen Elizabeth I of England in marriage, later transformed into a prized war trophy after being captured at sea by the Danish king.
