Palazzo Cordellina (Vicenza): Façade and Frieze Detail with Keystone Masks and Classical Orders
2541
Designed and constructed between 1776–1789 during the Neoclassical period, attributed to architect Ottone Calderari.
Architecturally, the facade organizes the main public elevation into a classical grammar of base, piano nobile, and crowning entablature, with the monumental portal serving as the primary axis of entry and visual focus. Symbolically, the severe Neoclassical ordering of pilasters, columns, and the Doric-Ionic entablature references the authority of antiquity and humanist scholarship, befitting a palazzo commissioned by the cultured Cordellina family.
