Crafted during the New Kingdom, early 18th Dynasty (circa 1525–1504 BCE, reign of Amenhotep I or Thutmose I).

Created as the majestic outermost protective container for the queen's mummy, serving a divine transfiguration function to transform her into a winged celestial being capable of soaring into the heavens alongside the sun god.
