Marble Akroterion of the Grave Monument of Timotheos and Nikon
2495
Created in the Late Classical period, circa 350–325 BCE (Attic Greek).
This object is a high-relief marble architectural finial (akroterion) that served as the crowning decorative element of a grave stele. It is carved from fine-grained Greek white marble, executed using precision chisel work, drillwork for deep shadow definition (sottosquadro), fine incising, and smoothing techniques.
