Iznik Tile Panel with Saz Leaves and Floral Rosettes (Topkapi Palace, Istanbul)
2402
Created during the Classical Ottoman Period, specifically dating to the late 16th century (circa 1575–1590).
This object is a modular decorative wall revetment panel composed of multiple square underglaze-painted ceramic tiles, commonly known as Iznik tiles. The technique features hand-painted mineral pigments—primarily deep cobalt blue and vibrant turquoise green—applied over a white quartz-paste body, sealed with a clear alkaline glaze, and high-fire glazed.
