A Romanesque-Gothic transition impost block (c. 1140–1150 CE) carved with confronted birds — doves or symbolic fowl — pecking at a central pinecone, flanked by interlacing acanthus scrolls with deep channel undercutting; associated with the Saint-Denis workshops. Now at The Met Cloisters.
