Great Market Hall (Nagycsarnok): Polychrome Tiled Roof and Pinnacle Details

2510

Designed and constructed between 1894–1897 during the Austro-Hungarian Historicist and Secessionist period, under the direction of architect Samu Pecz.

This image captures a steeply pitched tower roof covered in vibrant, interlocking polychrome ceramic tiles forming a geometric diamond pattern, crowned by ceramic finials, a dormer window with neo-Gothic tracery, and Zsolnay glazed tiles over a brick and iron superstructure. It is constructed from glazed architectural ceramics (Zsolnay porcelain-faience), structural iron framing, and terracotta elements, executed using industrial ceramic casting, lead-glazing, kiln-firing, and precision interlocking tile installation.
