Crafted circa mid-5th century BC (around 450 BC), during the classical period of the ancient Kingdom of Colchis.
Recovered from the exceptionally wealthy elite female burial known as Grave No. 11 at Vani, this necklace functioned as a high-status burial offering and an insignia of supreme aristocratic rank, embodying the elite ritual regalia of a noble Colchian woman.
