Frieze Detail with Bucrania and Rosette from the Temple of Vespasian and Titus
2398
Begun in AD 79 by Emperor Titus and completed during the Flavian Dynasty under Domitian around AD 80–87; later partially restored under emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla circa AD 200–205.
This object is a carved marble architectural fragment featuring a detailed section of the temple's decorative frieze. It is carved from high-grade Luna marble (Carrara marble) using fine chisel, drill, and abrasive finishing techniques typical of imperial Roman stonemasonry.
