Crafted during the Amarna Period of the late Eighteenth Dynasty (circa 1353–1336 BCE), during the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Created as part of the architectural wall decoration for the open-air ceremonial complex of Maru-Aten (The Viewing-Palace-of-the-Aten), dedicated to royal women such as Princess Meritaten and Queen Kiya, serving a ritual, political, and commemorative function celebrating the solar cult of the Aten.
