Creation Date: ca. 17th to 19th century CE (Late Malla to Early Shah Period). Period: Malla Period / Kingdom of Nepal Classical Woodcarving Era (approx. 1482–1768 CE).

Sacred Architectural Framing and Cosmic Protection: In traditional Newar architecture, windows and doorways were viewed as living thresholds connecting the human dwelling to the divine cosmos. Elaborately carved wood frames served both decorative and apotropaic functions, using auspicious botanical and geometric symbols to ward off malevolent spirits and invite spiritual abundance into the household.
