Dynastic Legitimation and Spiritual Protection: Served as a political and religious emblem of the Crown of Aragon. Saint George was the patron saint of Aragon and chivalry; displaying his victory over the dragon validated royal authority, divine favor, and military supremacy over the Mediterranean territories.
