Portugal (Bussaco)
Comprehensive In-Depth Stylistic and Historical Analysis of the Neo-Manueline Colonnade at Bussaco Palace
2596
Neo-Manueline Revival period / Fin-de-siècle, constructed circa 1888–1907 CE, under the architectural direction of Luigi Manini and collaborator José Alexandre Soares.
Functioned as an open-air ambulatory and loggia framing the royal hunting lodge turned luxury hotel commissioned by the Portuguese monarchy. Symbolically, the architecture served as a grand romantic monument to national identity, celebrating Portugal's maritime discoveries, imperial history, and literary legacy (drawing direct inspiration from Camões' The Lusiads).
