Canopic Jar Lid with the Portrait of Queen Kiya (or Queen Tiye)
2743
Crafted during the Amarna Period of the late Eighteenth Dynasty (circa 1353–1336 BCE), during the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Created as an elite funerary canopic jar stopper designed to seal and protect the internal organs of a royal personage (originally associated with Queen Kiya, and later linked or adapted for Queen Tiye or a member of the royal family), serving both a practical mummification function and an apotropaic divine guardian role.
