Crafted ca. 1180–1210 (late 12th to early 13th century), corresponding to the medieval Islamic period (Seljuk or Khwarazmian era).
Belongs to a group of similar shape and size silver-inlaid brass vessels used for pouring water or liquids during elite courtly functions, while its complex program served an apotropaic, auspicious, and cosmological function for the owner.
