Architectural and Liminal Role: Positioned as a structural and decorative framing element within the monastic church interior, this assembly articulated spatial transitions between the nave, sanctuary, and architectural bays. Symbolic and Apotropaic Significance: The dense arrangement of undulating foliate scrolls, palmettes, and protective rope borders functions as a visual representation of the Tree of Life and the Paradise of the heavenly kingdom, while serving an apotropaic role to safeguard the sacred interior space.
